About Shannon Olson
Travel was a favorite activity in my life from a very young age. After falling in love with travel, I took a Travel Counsellor course and graduated in 2009. Shortly thereafter we moved to Doha, Qatar. I set up shop with the support of a long-time local travel agency. They gave me the support I needed to run a successful Expat Travel Lady business out of my villa, helping expats book their escapes all over the world. Living in a fascinating city and jumping off point to so many beautiful destinations was very exciting. I have booked holidays to the Maldives, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, India, Europe, and Southeast Asia just to name a few.
In 2015 we moved to The Hague, Netherlands for 4 years. Another exciting location full of travel possibilities. I scoured Europe every chance I had! Living in the EU let me travel beyond the usual tourist spots. Some of our favorite days were spent on a boat exploring the lake district in Northern Italy, beer tasting at Oktoberfest in Bavaria, Germany and discovering the many small private beaches and alcoves in Croatia. We spent many sunny warm weeks in Spain and Portugal golfing and visiting art galleries. I enjoy planning all travel in Europe as it creates memories that last forever and is easily & safely travelled by a large group or a solo traveler. Multi-country/city explorer EU tours is a favorite itinerary to design.
In 2019 we moved back to Calgary, Alberta and while the pandemic may have slowed my return to the industry, I was happy to join Tier One Travel in 2021. They have been in business for over 30 years in Calgary, with an office on MacLeod Trail.
My focus is on global tours, custom itineraries, and cruising within a few of the regions I’m very familiar with – Europe, South America, the UAE/Middle East, and SE Asia. I actively promote and book as many sustainable properties, cruise, and travel companies for your trip as possible. Come away from your travel changed – but our travels should leave the environments just the way we found them. I enjoy booking Polar Excursions to Greenland & Antarctica, luxury cruises in French Polynesia, African safaris, European custom tours and much more. Health & Wellness, Family/Multigenerational & Small Groups, LGBTQ+, Special Events, Luxury travel with a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly options are my travel specialties.
